What is the "Will of God"?

The Holy Spirit just taught me something more today about the 'will of God.'  This is an expansion of the previous article.  I want to say... let's forget about finding out the 'will of God' and focus on how we discern to follow God's presence and the Holy Spirit's leading.  No Biblical character or prophets ever seek the 'will of God.'  Instead, they are labeled 'faithful' for discerning and following God's leading.

This is an exhaustive summary of what the Bible say about the 'Will of God':
  1. Referring to a trust in God’s plan with future events as if God has total control
  2. The Spirit of God knows God’s will and the Children of God knows and does God’s will
  3. It is God’s will to bring us to repentance without regret through sorrow, which leads us to salvation
  4. Will of God is done from the heart and refuses to live for evil human desires
  5. It is the will of God to be sanctified and abstain from sexual immorality
  6. God’s will is: Be joyful always.  Pray continually.  Give thanks in all circumstances.
  7. Will of God is to persevere and do right even if we suffer for doing good
  8. It’s the will of God for church leaders to sacrificially, voluntarily and tenderly showing their flock the way.

Life is full of mysteries and unknowns.  We fear them.  There are way too many questions without answers.  We often don't know our purpose in life, or, where we should place the next step.  We don't know why and how God exist.  We don't know why suffering happens.  We cannot make sense of our world.  Our feebleness and the wretchedness of this world does not make sense in contrast to a good, love, and perfect God.

We often say “if God wills” or “Insha’Allah” or "only if I know what God's will is for my life"... and we spend a lot of time seeking it and waiting to 'hear God's direction.'  We attempt to be in control by letting go of our control over something we cannot control, by saying "if God wills."  Really, our obsession in seeking the will of God or saying 'if God wills' reflect our own insecurities and fears.  It's more or less a self-consoling technique.  Fatalistically, if things were to happen or don't happen, or, if pain vs. joy arrives... what can we do?!  We can only say "if God wills."  On the outside, this may appear to be and act of faith to place our 'trust in God for all situations,' but it is really our insecurities in disguise.  It is not true faith.

Real faith in God is believing in all of God's promises regardless of our circumstances or outcome.  As Daniel 3:18 point out, 'even if God does not rescue us, we are still not going to bow to your gods.'  Our faith for God is shown in the time of adversity.  As the crucible separates impurity from pure gold, adversity separates the faithful from the unfaithful.  Thus, we should actually embrace adversity, rather than running or praying them away!

I am not saying to pray for adversity.  But, when adversity comes, treat it as an opportunity for God to shine in us and for us to practice our true faithfulness.

Another real difference is that a true faithfulness in our Father God, Christ the Messiah, and guidance of the Holy Spirit, is that we do have One God.  Our God doesn't care about our achievements and performances, or how religious we are.  He doesn't are about how much scriptures we read or memorize, how much money we gave away, how much work we did for Him, how many buildings we built in His name, how loudly we pray, or how we seek His Will...

Listen to me nowThe only thing God cares for is if we have completely enjoy His presence and how we have listened and followed His Spirit's leading and how we display Christ's love to love those we have no reason to love... even to our enemies.  Knowing this, I also have to add that, it is impossible to do the above and not believe in the entirety of the Bible and the message of Christ the Messiah.  God is pure and holy, you cannot believe in a little bit here and little bit there... 'a little bit of holiness is no holiness at all.'  You cannot be a Christ-follower and only believe in part of His message or just do what you are comfortable in doing or believe in what make sense to you.

Faith is to let go 'trying to figure it out' or 'seeking God's will' and accept all of the mysteries and wonders about God and to make a choice to trust in His numerous promises that "He will never leave us nor forsake us;" and take steps according to the leading of God's Word.
